Fashion Trade Event: Copenhagen Fashion Week Announces Show & Presentation Schedule for AW25

Copenhagen Fashion Week has announced the show and presentation schedule for the Autumn/Winter 25 edition, taking place from 27-31 January 2025.

The fair will feature 36 brands, and organisers say it will continue to build momentum for the seasonal showcase by highlighting both key international and Nordic leaders, along with emerging innovators, blending Nordic names and international vanguards in the programme to underscore Copenhagen Fashion Week's leading position in the global fashion calendar.

The AW25 edition will introduce a new brand within the CPHFW NEWTALENT scheme, welcoming returning brands, and hosting new names over the week of shows and presentations.

Once again there will be runway shows and presentations integrated into a unified schedule. Presentation slots, allocated a two-hour window, will be interspersed between shows, allowing guests to attend both. Furthermore, the schedule will include a break on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, providing space for a burgeoning line up of talks, events, showrooms, and trade fairs.

Stine Goya to show on the Friday during AW25 Edition

This edition marks the return of Danish brand Stine Goya to the official schedule for AW25, and for the first time, Copenhagen Fashion Week will extend the festival to the Friday, with the brand hosting an intimate salon runway show at the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg that evening, set against the special exhibition "Stine Goya x Art - If You Can See What I See." Curated and staged by Stine Goya, the exhibition showcases works from the museum's art collection, celebrating Goya's deep connection to art, making for a special return to the schedule.

Alongside Stine Goya, Copenhagen Fashion Week will also see the return of Saks Potts and TG Botanical. Additionally, the schedule features the comeback of renowned Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen.

Bonnetje joins CPHFW NEWTALENT Scheme

Young Danish brand Bonnetje will join the CPHFW NEWTALENT scheme while Berner Kühl will present their second showcase, Stamm and Alectra Rothschild / Masculina will present their third and final showcases as part of the scheme.

Last season, Bonnetje was awarded the One To Watch slot and presented their SS25 collection in a presentation format on the official schedule. For the upcoming AW25 edition, Bonnetje will present their AW25 collection in a show format on CFW's opening day, Monday, January 27, 2025.

New and Returning Brands to the Official Schedule

Stel, the celebrated brand of the Danish-born Astrid Andersen, and emerging Danish label Birrot are making their official schedule runway debut following their highly successful SS25 appearances on the official event schedule, while lauded Swedish label Filippa K will present their collection in a presentation format for the very first time. Joining the line up are Icelandic brand 66°North, iconic Danish label Alis, Copenhagen-based newcomer Kamo, and Swedish menswear brand Cmmn Swdn, to further enhance the schedule's dedication to onboarding the best of Nordic design.

Alongside the special planned showcase of Stine Goya, Copenhagen Fashion Week is thrilled to see the return of Saks Potts and TG Botanical. Additionally, the schedule features the comeback of renowned Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen.

Paris February 2023 - photo by Lucia Carpio
As France is making preparations across Paris and indeed the country for the 2024 Summer Olympics, the international Texworld Evolution Paris has announced that its next summer edition, set for July 3 - 5 2023,  will take place at a new venue, in the Porte de Versailles Expo Centre, in the 15th arrondisement of Paris, expecting some 1,300 international textile and garment manufacturing exhibitors to take part.  The fair will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Texworld Evolution Paris February 2023 edition

Its recently concluded February 2023 edition, which was held (from Feb. 6 - 8) at their usual Parc des Expositions Paris in le Bourget, received close to 8,000 visitors from some 20 countries, a sign that organisers believed meant the resumption of business between the European fashion industries and major sourcing countries.  The Le Bourget location will not be available later this year as it has now been selected to host some of the Summer Olympics events, such as indoor volleyball and sport climbing, in 2024.

Meanwhile Texworld organisers said they were pleased that after three years of disruptions due to the Covid crisis, the alleys of Texworld Paris and Apparel Sourcing Paris in the February 2023 fair were filled with trade visitors keen to view the new Spring-Summer 2024 collections from 750 exhibitors.  The level of attendance and trading activities were comparable to the pre-pandemic editions.

Nearly 8,000 professional buyer registered and represented nearly a three-fold increase compared to attendance in the February 2022 edition.  While visitors were predominantly French, the fair was also visited by industry professionals from the UK, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Holland, followed by Germany and the US.

The February 2023 edition was highlighted by the return of Chinese exhibitors with 450 companies, weavers and garment manufacturers.  The fair also welcomed the return of exhibitors from Mongolia, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Korea, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.  Turkey also had a strong showing with 122 companies including 94 grouped under the national pavilion led by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).

Organisers said buyers, who have had in recent years reorient their sourcing strategy while facing inflation issues by sourcing more from Asia and the Mediterranean region, had come to get inspiration for trends and finalise their collections.

Texworld Evolution Paris February 2023 edition

Frédéric Bougeard, President of Messe Frankfurt France said, "The success of this (February 2023) edition shows our ability to adapt, and that our fairs are open international sourcing platforms. And they will remain so. The offer must stay organised according to the expectations of buyers, who come here to find quality industrial know-how to produce their collections in the best conditions and at the best price. Our objective is to always make this offer accessible and visible."

Come this summer, from 3 to 5 July, Apparel Sourcing Paris, Avantex Paris, and Texworld Paris as well as the Leatherworld offer, all under the umbrella of Texworld Evolution Paris, will occupy 45,000 m² in Hall 1 of the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre, compared to 25,000 m² for the February 2023 edition, with some 1,300 exhibitors expected, and it will see increased participation from China, India, Turkey, Korea, Vietnam, Ghana and Ethiopia.

"The July edition will also coincide with the International Lingerie trade show & Interfilière organised by WSN (Who’Next), the professional platforms for the sourcing of materials and accessories for the lingerie, sportswear and swimwear markets, which will be held from 2 to 4 July. This strategic choice was made in response to strong demand from buyers, who want to be able to take advantage of an extended sourcing platform at the same time of year. This will be an opportunity for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary in a new arrangement, with more services, which will bring emulation to the market," said Frédéric Bougeard.

New London fashion trade fairs announced as UK government announce easing plans to further open up economy

Photo source: SCOOP London previously held at
Saatchi Gallery.
One may say things are looking up in the UK as a successful vaccine roll-out is encouraging the government to guide life back to normal.  But like our volatile weather things can still turn unexpectedly.  Nevertheless, when trade fair organisers start announcing new dates for their physical events, there is a sense of positivity in the air.

The UK government has recently announced that all COVID-19 limitations and restrictions will end on 22nd June so while organisers are monitoring this development closely, events are planned accordingly in line with government guidelines.  As economists would say, in times like these, certainty is a powerful thing. When you have clarity today, you can plan for tomorrow with confidence.

For one, a new Future Fabrics Expo, West London, showroom* has been announced to take place from 22nd June to 2nd July 2021.  The fair, deemed the 9½, is aimed at supporting fashion professionals who want to source in-person more responsibly-produced textiles and materials, all supported with educational and informational displays.  This interim Expo will key as a destination for sourcing sustainable materials.  It offers a physical showcase of thousands of materials, along with sustainability knowledge, supplier insights, advice, and networking events.

Organisers say those who can't join them in person can tune in online as panel discussions will be livestreamed featuring insights from experts and thought-leaders every day, 1PM - 2PM during the Expo. One will also be able to explore newly launched features on their Future Fabrics VIRTUAL Expo that for online sourcing.  Details for registration will be announced soon.  Attendance is by advanced booking only.

Meanwhile the trade show organiser HYVE GROUP has announced new changes to SCOOP x PURE and PURE ORIGIN events which will which will move to new dates in September and in a new venue in London.

Scoop and Pure London will unite to take place on 7th – 9th September 2021 at the iconic Old Truman Brewery for the upcoming hybrid exhibition, showcasing a highly edited line up of fashion, home and lifestyle collections, while sister event Pure Origin will be co-located with Scoop X Pure bringing the entire fashion supply chain under one roof.

Curated by Scoop founder and MD, Karen Radley, Scoop X Pure will showcase the “best in show”, highlighting the collections and labels across the Scoop and Pure London rosters. Designed to offer a “department store” atmosphere, Scoop X Pure will bring together both emerging and established UK and international fashion designers across men’s and womenswear while also feature a selected edit of home and lifestyle products.

After listening closely to exhibitor and retailer feedback, Hyve Group has taken the decision to move away from Scoop and Pure London’s traditional weekend datelines for this season only. Now the show has been moved to a mid-week dateline to tie in with retailers’ visits to Shoreditch-based showrooms in East London, allowing them to return to their shops in time for busy weekend peak periods.

ISPO Munich, PURE London and Scoop to go digital in spring 2021

At a time when many European countries are facing a bleak winter of living with the Coronavirus, what is the chance come Summer 2021 for international trade events to proceed with their physical show.  For the time being, it is slim and many plans are on hold.  Ging digital probably is the best solution.

Here in the UK trade show organiser Hyve Group has announced its Pure London and Scoop shows scheduled to take place in February 2021 have been cancelled due to ongoing Covid-19 disruption.  A digital platform - Fashion Together – will be held instead on 23 February.

The next physical editions of Pure London and Scoop will be moved to September 12-14  2021.

The Group's trade show Moda in Birmingham has also cancelled, and its next physical edition will now take place September 5-7 September 2021.

ISPO Munich Januanry 2020.

Meanwhile the announcement from the German-based sports business platform ISPO Munich that its next show scheduled for February 1-5 will be held completely online is not so surprising either.  This probably means the organiser Messe München has given up its hope to do a hybrid event – a combination of digital and on-premises events - deemed not feasible at this time.

Klaus Dittrich, the Chairman and CEO of Messe München, explains: “With ISPO Munich Online, we are enabling all customers around the world to participate in the event. At the same time, we can create formats that integrate new target groups. I am sure that in February we will experience an event, which will offer digital industry discussions of the highest caliber.”

ISPO Munich Online will offer the usual benefits of physical events without the luxury of face-to-face contact, allowing “attendants” to find new products and brands and businesses to network.  Organisers say participants can take part in forums and discussions via live streaming and chat rooms.

For the first time, end-consumers will also have the chance to participate digitally and conduct a direct dialogue with the industry. In brand rooms for product presentations, workshops and master classes, brands and companies will have the opportunity to present themselves and engage with sport and outdoor fans throughout the world.

ISPO Open Innovation has already shown this integration works: The approximately 80,000 end-consumers from around 70 countries bring their know-how to the crowdsourcing and market research campaigns – delivering valuable insights and inspiration for new products and ideas to companies all year.

Premiere Vision Paris' first Digital Show deemed a success . London's Textile Forum is postponed to 2021.

Just when you think it’s safe to go back into the water, the UK Government announces new Covid restrictions which means all exhibitions in the country have been "paused" again probably until next spring at the earliest.  Thus it is not surprising to learn that London’s Textile Forum cannot take place this October, the first time in 18 years that it is postponed.

Première Vision had the foresight to launch its Marketplace in September 2018 as an additional digital platform to the physical show, which has proven now to be a valuable initiative for the international trading community in these challenging times.

The Digital Show has featured an interactive catalog, with activated client/supplier contact tools,; an enhanced content to decode seasonal trends to help professionals build collections; as well as a series of digital talks under the banne "The Futures of Fashion" which was participated by 3,635 international professionals sharing ideas and information regarding the industry’s coming challenges.

While the DIGITAL SHOW will remain active on the Première Vision Marketplace throughout the season, the traffic and activity seen on its opening two days demonstrate how clearly this event meets the industry’s new and evolving needs, enabling international fashion industry professionals to continue interacting and developing their business despite the reigning economic and health uncertainty.

Gilles Lasbordes, Première Vision General Manager, said:
“The performance of this first digital event are very encouraging and highly instructive. We salute the commitment and reactivity of the industry, which mobilized around the virtual show while reminding us of the importance of the physical experience. See you next February for a spring-summer 22 edition which is already shaping up to be a hybrid show.”

Première Vision reaffirms its omni-channel strategy, strengthening the synergies between its physical and digital events, as the way forward.  The physical event, Première Vision Paris is a lively, inspiring event vital to the creative process and to engaging professionals with each other in understand the season’s new material.  It also acts as a catalyst for the in-person meetings essential to developing and solidifying client/supplier relationships.  Coexisting is the online event on its Marketplace, the DIGITAL SHOW, regarded as an indispensable way to promote the visibility of the exhibitors’ offer to a broader target of international buyers during and beyond the actual show dates.

Marimekko celebrates iconic prints, bold patterns and simplistic form at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Marimekko the Finnish label for fashion, home furnishings and textiles based in Helsinki, represents so much more than just about colour and bold motifs.  The name is often described to be about joy, a way of life and designed for the woman who is confident and wants clothes she can move in while expressing her personal style.  Marimekko's distinctive iconic print – the Unikko poppy print in red and white – has for decades boldly led the way for liberating our desire to express ourselves through simply-shaped dresses, button-up shirts, with coordinating separates and accessories, and also home products to feed that lifestyle.

Marimekko celebrate their 70th anniversary in 2021 and their fashion show at the Copenhagen Fashion Week this month championed all of those qualities that contribute to their enduring international success.

The presentation, filmed in their in-house textile printing factory in Helsinki, features a selection of vintage gems and signature style, putting the spotlight on their core, the art of printmaking, while highlighting their rich and varied creative legacy bringing together some of their most iconic prints with forward-looking new designs. The presentation can be viewed on copenhagenfashionweek.com.

The company take what they describe as a “democratic approach for this presentation with an inclusive idea of the event that “feels so fresh” and connects to the brand DNA.

“Ultimately, Marimekko is about joy and timeless design, and our art of printmaking is a tool to represent that. We will have a very special digital presentation this year, portraying our roots and where we came from as a heritage brand, but also hint towards the future of Marimekko. We are excited to share our world and connect with new people!”

In June this year, Marimekko announced the appointment of Rebekka Bay, 50, as its new Creative Director and a member of the Management Group.  She will start on 1 September 2020 and has resigned her position as a member of the Board of Directors of Marimekko.

Bay brings with her a wealth of experience, from the position of Creative Director of Uniqlo Global Innovation Center in which she split her time between New York and Tokyo, and has previously worked as Head of Design and Product of Everlane in New York and San Francisco (2015–2017) as well as Creative Director EVP of Gap Global Design in New York (2012–2015), Creative Director of Bruuns Bazaar in Copenhagen (2011–2012) and Creative Director of COS in London (2006–2011). Bay was a member of Marimekko’s Board of Directors from April 2017 until June 2020.

According to the company's statement released in June 2020, Bay says, “I have always found ideas more intriguing than fashion, innovation and creativity more important than fast-paced trends. I believe that Marimekko, as a lifestyle brand and in expression, is as relevant today as it was 70 years ago. I am very much looking forward to joining Marimekko’s creative community and I am humbled and flattered by the invitation. I hope to foster creativity and attract talent, to drive innovation and quality, to further increase sustainable practices and to reinforce Marimekko’s position as a joyful, timeless and global lifestyle brand.”

Turning 70 next year, Marimekko will showcase their first anniversary year collection – and the world awaits excitedly.

Première Vision Paris to highlight close association between sport and fashion this September

PREMIÈRE VISION PARIS: SPORT GAINS GROUND
AT PREMIÈRE VISION PARIS:  A FIRST- EVER SPORT & TECH SECTOR, INFORMATIVE FORUM, AND EXCLUSIVE PROGRAMME!

"From mass market to luxury houses, everyone needs sports,"
says Pascal Monfort, fashion consultant of sport and
lifestyle founder of Trends Marketing REC agency.

The association between sport and fashion has never been closer.  Today thanks to new technology and innovation, functional performance is integrated into fashion and textiles development.

Thus in the next edition of the fashion and textiles fair Première Vision Paris, due to take place 19 – 21 September at Villepinte, Paris, the show will dedicate new spaces to highlight sport and technical innovations on offer from exhibitors, to assist ready-to-wear brands looking for innovative products to develop their high-performance fashion pieces.

Fashion and sports are closely associated.

The new spaces will include a dedicated fashion decoding system, and a specific conference programme.

Trade visitors and industry professionals should look out for:-
• A SPORT & TECH sector in the heart of Hall 6 at Première Vision Fabrics.
• A SPORT & TECH trail available on the show's mobile app available to download
• A SPORT & TECH forum (formerly the Tech Focus Forum).
• A dedicated program of conferences in the SPORT & TECH forum, moderated by Pascal Monfort, founder and director of the Trends Marketing REC agency.
Monsieur Monfort, a notable fashion consultant specializing in sport & lifestyle, acknowledges that the communion between sport and fashion has reached its maturity and all areas are affected.

"From mass market to luxury houses, everyone needs sports, and they take real risks if they try and give it up. Refusing to integrate sneakers into a collection today is almost dangerous.  You can also see that a sports spirit is mixed in with fashion too," he said in an interview with Première Vision Paris.

"Yes, and the entire sports world has been summoned. Athletes walked straight into the fashion universe. They sit in the front row of the runway shows. Their reach is immense and covers all parts of the world, far more than celebrities.
"In addition, sporting events also dictate fashion calendars with, for example, the creation of capsule collections for soccer’s World Cup or the America’s Cup.  This has transformed the needs of brands.
Premiere Vision Paris 2017.  Photo © Lucia Carpio
M. Monfort continues: "The new generation of artistic directors in major houses like to work with technical fabrics and materials that previously caused no excitement for people outside of the sports world. We used to want comfortable materials. Now they also have to be efficient and ultra-technical."

The complete interview can be found on the Première Vision website and in the Cloud of Fashion Newspaper #3.

Paris textile trade fairs recorded 81% of visitors came from abroad, say organisers

The very established Messe Frankfurt France which organised the group of  complementing textile and fashion trade fairs: APPAREL SOURCING PARIS – AVANTEX PARIS – SHAWLS & SCARVES PARIS the accessories showcase – TEXWORLD PARIS – TEXWORLD DENIM PARIS -  which took place at Le Bourget, Paris, from 11 to 14 February 2018, reportedly welcomed 13,606 international visitors, acknowledging that opening the shows on a Sunday had been a success.

“This February 2018 show with our initiative for a Sunday opening was a trial run for us. The gamble of opening the trade fair on a Sunday (had) paid off with an attendance of 18% of total visitors, who were able conduct their business in a calmer atmosphere,” said Michael Scherpe, President of Messe Frankfurt France, adding that the second day of the fairs, which fell on a Monday proved to be their busiest day of this edition.  However he confirmed that come September 2018, the shows will revert to their previous timetable to open on a Monday, 17th September running until 20th September 2018.

Mr Scherpe revealed that this February, the shows’ attendance remain international: the top five countries were respectively France, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Spain, and Italy.  New visitors were recorded from North America (+7%) and the African continent (+26%), led by the countries who are major suppliers for Europe such as Morocco (+25%) and Turkey (+15%), who came to Le Bourget to carry out sourcing.

The shows welcomed also visitors from emerging markets such as South Africa as well as Ethiopia, which was the country of honour this season.

“The Southern Hemisphere has proved to be very promising, since Australasia recorded a healthy increase of 55%. Nonetheless, we have noted a drop of 6% in attendance from Asian countries, obviously due to Chinese New Year, an all-important family celebration.  Anticipating that many Chinese exhibitors would be bringing their families, the shows also set up a day care centre to accommodate accompanying children.

“On the other hand, Turkey is very active with a 20% increase.  Returning to Europe, here visitor numbers from Eastern European countries have kept growing compared with February 2017, especially from Russia (+38%), Poland (+15%) and Hungary (+8%), and we see favourable results for the Ukraine, Cyprus, Finland and Bulgaria.

"These steady and sustainable visitor numbers go to demonstrate how very attractive Messe Frankfurt France’s Paris shows are and their strength as a business platform,” said Mr. Scherpe.
