Paris Trade Fair: Texworld and Apparel Sourcing Paris Return to Le Bourget in September 2025 with Renewed Focus on Sustainability and Innovation

Texworld and Apparel Sourcing Paris are set to return to the Paris-Le-Bourget Exhibition Centre from 15 to 17 September 2025, occupying Halls 2, 3 and 4. The shows will once again bring together Texworld Paris, Apparel Sourcing Paris, and their specialist offshoots Avantex and Leatherworld, forming a comprehensive sourcing platform for the international fashion industry, from ready-to-wear to luxury.

Organisers expect between 1,200 and 1,300 exhibitors at this autumn edition, which has returned to its traditional September slot to better align with buyers' schedules. The event layout will mirror that of the February 2025 edition, which was positively received by both manufacturers and fashion professionals.

Participation from key textile-producing countries is already confirmed. Exhibitors from China, India, Turkey, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong will be in attendance, underlining the continuing importance of the European market amid persistent US-China trade tensions. Interest from Central European garment producers is also said to be strong, and delegations from Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine are expected to make notable appearances at Apparel Sourcing Paris, showcasing high-quality, skilled manufacturing.

As in previous editions, the fair will be organised into thematic zones, with dedicated spaces for women's fashion and activewear. These curated areas aim to create a smoother sourcing journey for visitors by linking textiles with finished products.

Sustainability and innovation remain central themes. Avantex, situated in Hall 2, will focus on sustainable sourcing and technological solutions for a more transparent, circular fashion industry. Highlights include the unveiling of findings from the Herewear European project, led by TCBL, which explores bio-based, locally produced textiles as a foundation for a regionalised European market. The programme will include keynotes, panel discussions, exhibitions, and workshops.

The 8th edition of the Avantex Fashion Pitch will also take place during the show, with finalists presenting to a jury comprising notable industry figures such as Carol Hilsum, Yoobin Jung, Jayne Simone Estève Curé, and Élodie Lemaire Nowinski. The event is held in partnership with IFA Paris and Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network.

Leatherworld will return to Hall 4, adjacent to the Denim section, reinforcing the link between raw materials and finished garments. Also in Hall 4, the Initiatives by Texworld zone will spotlight the textile expertise of countries including Turkey—presenting a trend-focused area featuring leading weavers—and India, showcasing traditional embroidery techniques.

Organisers say this September’s edition reaffirms Paris’s position as a vital hub in the global sourcing calendar, blending international craftsmanship with forward-looking innovation and sustainability.

In the last 20 months, two sessions of Texworld Evolution Le Showroom were staged in a hybrid format response to the pandemic crisis.  Now Messe Frankfurt France is planning this February 2022 edition to welcome back exhibitors and visitors to Paris Le Bourget. This is a first step towards a return to normality and a resumption of trade.

Messe Frankfurt France has cancelled September editions of Apparel Sourcing, Avantex, Leatherworld, Shawls&Scarves, Texworld and Texworld Denim Paris

While a number of international trade fairs are hoping to proceed with their scheduled events this autumn, other organisers have decided to cancel, such as Messe Frankfurt France which has announced the cancellation of the September 2020 edition of Apparel Sourcing, Avantex, Leatherworld, Shawls&Scarves, Texworld and Texworld Denim Paris - international trade fairs for the fashion and textile industry, trims and accessories.

According to their released statement, they have come to this decision due to the lack of information on health requirements from the authorities for the major international events planned for September, as well as possible travel restrictions for international visitors that may still be in place.
With the threat of second spikes of the Covid-19 looming over many of their major participating countries such as China, while others are still seeing high infection numbers, it is understandable why the organisers have decided to forgo with the September shows.  Instead their team is now concentrating their efforts on the February 2021 exhibitions, while their original dates of  14 - 17 September 2020 were to coincide with Premiere Vision Paris September 2020 edition, which still at the moment will go ahead combining a physical event with a digital platform.

"A survey conducted amongst loyal textile and clothing buyers indicates that most of them are not yet ready to travel.  Serious consideration of all these issues and the lack of guarantees that this major event can be organised under good conditions has forced us to take this decision. A difficult decision, but one that is responsible to our visitors, exhibitors and partners," explains Frédéric Bougeard, President of Messe Frankfurt France.

"Our major international partners have renewed their confidence in us by confirming their presence from February 1 to 4, Mr. Bougeard added, saying from September onwards, Messe Frankfurt France will be offering several digital solutions to connect suppliers to buyers and to showcase their know-how and production capacities, which are the strength and originality of Messe Frankfurt France trade fairs.

Paris textile trade fairs recorded 81% of visitors came from abroad, say organisers

The very established Messe Frankfurt France which organised the group of  complementing textile and fashion trade fairs: APPAREL SOURCING PARIS – AVANTEX PARIS – SHAWLS & SCARVES PARIS the accessories showcase – TEXWORLD PARIS – TEXWORLD DENIM PARIS -  which took place at Le Bourget, Paris, from 11 to 14 February 2018, reportedly welcomed 13,606 international visitors, acknowledging that opening the shows on a Sunday had been a success.

“This February 2018 show with our initiative for a Sunday opening was a trial run for us. The gamble of opening the trade fair on a Sunday (had) paid off with an attendance of 18% of total visitors, who were able conduct their business in a calmer atmosphere,” said Michael Scherpe, President of Messe Frankfurt France, adding that the second day of the fairs, which fell on a Monday proved to be their busiest day of this edition.  However he confirmed that come September 2018, the shows will revert to their previous timetable to open on a Monday, 17th September running until 20th September 2018.

Mr Scherpe revealed that this February, the shows’ attendance remain international: the top five countries were respectively France, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Spain, and Italy.  New visitors were recorded from North America (+7%) and the African continent (+26%), led by the countries who are major suppliers for Europe such as Morocco (+25%) and Turkey (+15%), who came to Le Bourget to carry out sourcing.

The shows welcomed also visitors from emerging markets such as South Africa as well as Ethiopia, which was the country of honour this season.

“The Southern Hemisphere has proved to be very promising, since Australasia recorded a healthy increase of 55%. Nonetheless, we have noted a drop of 6% in attendance from Asian countries, obviously due to Chinese New Year, an all-important family celebration.  Anticipating that many Chinese exhibitors would be bringing their families, the shows also set up a day care centre to accommodate accompanying children.

“On the other hand, Turkey is very active with a 20% increase.  Returning to Europe, here visitor numbers from Eastern European countries have kept growing compared with February 2017, especially from Russia (+38%), Poland (+15%) and Hungary (+8%), and we see favourable results for the Ukraine, Cyprus, Finland and Bulgaria.

"These steady and sustainable visitor numbers go to demonstrate how very attractive Messe Frankfurt France’s Paris shows are and their strength as a business platform,” said Mr. Scherpe.

Texworld and ApparelSourcing Paris fairs enjoyed growth and satisfactory comments.

Organisers at Messe Frankfurt France have reported that the Texworld and ApparelSourcing trade fairs – both events held in Paris in February 17 – 20 (coinciding with the Premiere Vision Pluriel fairs) - reported a growth of 11% in terms of visitors’ numbers (when compared to the February 2013 event ), prompting its president Michael Sherpe to comment that the textiles industry is emerging from the economic crisis.

Mr Sherpe said the positioning of Texworld and ApparelSourcing Paris (for fashion fabrics, accessories and finished garments respectively), as pre-eminent platforms, where you can find the whole spectrum of qualities at fair prices, had been firmly established and contributed to these positive results.  Some 85% of the visitors came from outside France.

The key fabrics for Spring Summer 2015 according to the fairs’ artistic directors, Louis Gérin and Grégory Lamaud, were sumptuous colours with flair.
