Textile & Garment Trade Fair: Texworld and Apparel Sourcing combined under new name come July 2024

Texworld Evolution Paris and Apparel Sourcing which took place February 5 - 7 2024 received close to 8,000 international visitors to meet the 1,200 exhibitors, mainly weavers, mills and clothing companies from 25 countries.

Organisers said this season the offer was broader, more diversified and more accessible; and despite increasing demands facing the global fashion and textiles industry, visitor numbers remained stable.

Organisers at Messe Frankfurt France also announced that the two complimentary fairs will be combined into one entity, to be named jointly as 'Texworld Apparel Sourcing Paris" to reflect evolving developments in fashion sourcing and the expansion of brand universes. A growing number of buyers now want to be able to select materials, while also sourcing finished products directly to complement collections or expand their range, they said.

The new name is accompanied by a new dual baseline - Weaving the future; sourcing/business/solutions - to underline these developments and reinforce the fairs' service-led positioning.  This new signature will be adopted at the next edition of Texworld Apparel Sourcing Paris, encompassing Avantex and Leatherworld, slated for July 1 to 3 2024.

This February, Texworld and Apparel Sourcing were set up across the two levels of Hall 7 (7.2 and 7.3) at Parc Expo in Porte de Versaille in the south of Paris.  The bright and airy atmosphere of the exhibition venue gave Texworld a fresh look to showcase the international event.

The top 5 group of visitors from Europe were buyers from international companies in Europe, representing France (20% of the total, up sharply on 2023), the UK (8.3%), Italy (7.9%), Turkey (7.2%) and Spain (6.8%).

The alignment of textiles on show in Texworld and complimented with garment makers in the Apparel Sourcing Paris was a key benefit for many designers and buyers visiting the fairs.

A designer for the George Rech brand, Agathe Coudert who travels to Paris every year with her team to design the collections that will be on show in Spain in 2025 in the Corte Ingles corners said she was at Texworld to select fabrics from France or eastern Europe, and then supplemented with finished products at Apparel Sourcing, be they knitwear, which requires special know-how, silk blouses and double-sided cashmere coats.

For exhibitors, the show was also an opportunity to showcase their newest products to their customers. Chinese performance fabrics manufacturer, Oracle Textile Technology, was able to highlight the new colour and appearance ranges of its nylon spandex or seamless fabrics used for down jackets and outdoor clothing collections. The same goes for Pakistani weaver Liberty Mills, which presented its new cotton ranges to its British, French and Canadian retail customers.

Womenswear manufacturer BP Impex from India whose main markets from in Europe, said  the show was an opportunity to meet the French, English, Dutch and Spanish brands and distributors.  Buyers would come to their stand with drawings and design ideas, and worked with the company on their collections expecting delivery to be made in 120 days, said a company manager, who reported that they made some twenty new contacts during the three-day show.

“Despite the slowdown in the clothing market, Europe remains a major market for textile and finished goods manufacturers," explains Frédéric Bougeard, President of Messe Frankfurt France.

“For some players, it is becoming a strategic market to offset the uncertainties weighing on the Russian and American markets" he continued. Our mission is to fulfill our role as a market place, to adapt to these changes and to make the international offer more and more accessible."

The February's event also highlighted near sourcing from countries in proximity to major European markets.

From Ukraine, for example were nine companies that joined under the banner of the Ukrainian Association of Textile and Leather Industry Companies (Ukrlegprom).

Also participating were companies from Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands who, organisers said, were able to take advantage of the show's visibility to include their expertise in the sourcing plans of French and European buyers.

"We want to build on these initiatives and we'll be putting forward proposals at our next shows, but also, why not, in different formats" continues Frédéric Bougeard.

In addition to the diversity of exhibitors and new products, this edition focused in particular on sustainable products with the Texpertise Econogy initiative, which is presently promoted among the 50 textile fairs of the Messe Frankfurt group in 12 countries worldwide.

This new format will serve as a beacon in the sourcing industry for exhibitors displaying sustainability and will play a decisive role in the upcoming editions of Texworld and Apparel Sourcing.

The next show, under the new name Texworld Apparel Sourcing Paris will take place from July 1 to 3 2024 in the same Hall 7 (7.2 and 7.3) of the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.  It will be held three weeks prior to the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which are due to open on 26 July.

The show, which will remain the same size as that of this February, will offer a selective range of products, and will reflect the convergence between textiles and finished products.

Trade Fair: Texworld Evolution Paris reported a successful show for its July 2023 edition

The summer edition of  the Texworld Evolution Paris trade fair - encompassing  Apparel Sourcing, Avantex, Leatherworld and Texworld Paris – which took place from July 3 to 5  –    celebrated the event's 25th anniversary and welcomed nearly 6,800 international trade visitors to preview the latest on offer from 1,350 exhibitors from 27 countries.

The show was held for the first time at the Parc des Expositions in Porte de Versailles, Paris, where it will remain for its 2024 shows as well, while it's former venue at Le Bourget will serve as one of the venues for the 2024 Summer Olympics for which France is host.

Organisers said Texworld Evolution Paris trade fairs ended on a very positive note as the show took place in association with two other fairs that took place at the same exhibition centre during the same time -  namely Curve Paris and Interfilière Paris (for lingerie products and accessories ) - and thus offered buyers an unprecedentedly broad fashion platform in the heart of the French capital.

Organisers revealed that most of the buyers they had talked to had welcomed the decision to locate the show downtown Paris which simplified access to a show that was particularly eagerly awaited.

Organisers said in terms of visitor attendance to Texworld, 18% represented France, followed by Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Germany, and in terms of product offerings, this highly international edition confirmed the major balances between the Asian sourcing zones - as demonstrated by the strong Chinese presence, just 6 months after the reopening of the country, as well as Korean and Taiwanese - Indian and Mediterranean, with, once again this year, Turkey had a strong presence as well as a major sourcing country.

Organisers said in the face of inflation, collection managers tend to redirect their long-term sourcing strategy towards Asia or the Mediterranean region for restocking. Texworld is unique in terms of what it has to offer, according to a Spanish buyer from a distribution group.  "In two days, we can build 70 to 80% of our collections, by mixing fabric choices for creations that will be made in Spain or Portugal, but also finished products, which we will have made in Indonesia according to our specifications," said the buyer.

Frédéric Bougeard, President of Messe Frankfurt France which organises the Texworld trade fairs, said this July 2023 session revealed the changes taking place in the global market that is reorganising itself, and for which the offering must be adapted. “The fashion world is increasingly challenged, with consumers - and therefore buyers - becoming more demanding in terms of price, quality and durability."

Bougeard added, "We have to do more to attract our visitors and meet their expectations. That's why we've decided to renew our offer, in a new venue with new services, to 'whet the appetite' and make the visit more efficient. Eventually, we'll certainly have to go one step further, and offer our buyers a sharper selection of manufacturers. We are working on this with our partners, and it will be visible at the next edition, from 5 to 7 February in Hall 7 at Porte de Versailles."

Sustainability remains a key challenge for all in the industry.  A growing number of supplier countries present at the show are incorporating sustainability as a central element of their approach, and are moving fast on this issue. This key topic has been highlighted in the aisles by the sustainable sourcing itinerary, which enables visitors to easily identify several hundred certified companies.

Messe Frankfurt Paris photo

This year, a number of manufacturers from Pakistan and Taiwan  had joined forces to promote these aspects with a highly specialised range of products.

Pakistani company Cresent Bahüman Ltd. for one,  at the Sustainable Pakistan pavilion – which recycles the indigo waste generated by its dyeing processes to dye jeans and T-shirts sold by Spanish brand Pull& Bear  of the Inditex group.

Also worth noting was Wynist Retail Solutions, one of the six companies in the Taiwan Eco-Textiles Collective pavilion, which had developed an upcycling process that produces shop displays ( for retailers such as Uniqlo and Lululemon) using  fabric scraps and used clothing.

South African creativity was in the spotlight once again this year, as Messe Frankfurt featured the winners of the young South African designers' competition, organised by Allfashion Sourcing Cape Town, Messe Frankfurt's sourcing platform for African production.

Thando Munkus Ntuli (winner 2021) and Carla Hanekom (winner 2022) were present to showcase their creations in a dedicated area near the Agora. The event was organised as a part of the Texpertise – the textile business network, one of whose aims is to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

This time the focus was on empowering women and achieving gender equality. Texpertise comprises around fifty of Messe Frankfurt's textile-related trade fairs worldwide.

Every year, as part of the innovation support policy developed by Messe Frankfurt France, the Avantex Fashion Pitch rewards the best projects in the fashion and textile sector. This year the winners are AwareTM and Refact by Induo, who were selected out of eight companies.

Dutch company AwareTM was selected for its scanner employed to determine the exact composition of a garment in order to facilitate its recycling. A special prize was awarded to Refact by Induo, whose solution enables the development on an industrial scale of a process for recycling all types of textiles and producing a new viscose fibre with very low ecological impact.

The 2023 jury was made up of Corinne Bégaud - head of HEC's Challenge+ programme - Christian Martin - founder of the Fashion Tech Lab and a specialist in augmented reality - and Frédérique Thureau - partner and leader of the TCBL textile network. Organised by Avantex Paris, the international trade fair for innovation in advanced and sustainable fashion, this event gives fashion and textile start-ups international exposure to investors, professionals and the media. CDamslab, De Rigueur, HYPUnderwear, NIL Textile, Redivivum, Terra Ferra and Thesara were finalists in the 2023 Avantex Fashion Pitch.

The next Texworld Evolution Paris trade fairs will take place February 5 - 7, 2024 at Parc des Expositions in Porte de Versailles, Paris.

Trade fairs: Sustainability and innovative textiles main focus of international textile industry fairs in Paris

This July, the international creative fashion and textiles industry community encompassing professionals from all sectors will come together in Paris to network and view the latest industry developments, especially in the area of sustainability.

Opening in the heart of Paris at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre from July 3 to 5 is the Texworld Evolution Paris group of trade fairs, encompassing Apparel Sourcing, Avantex, Leatherworld and Texworld Paris.  Texworld will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

This is the first time that Texworld Evolution Paris is staged in the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre because its usual site at Parc des Expositions in Le Bourget has been given way to preparations of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Texworld Evolution Paris trade shows are also held concurrently with other fashion trade events taking place at the same location in the French capital, namely Curve Paris and Interfilière Paris lingerie products and accessories shows.

Organisers say Texworld Evolution Paris is the largest European sourcing platform for textiles and clothing in terms of number of exhibitors, featuring more than 1,350 exhibitors from 26 countries, with a strong presence of exhibitors from China, Turkey, India, Korea, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, as well as Bangladesh, Cambodia and Uzbekistan.

Julien Schmoll, Marketing and Communications Director at Messe Frankfurt France said: “Today the main supplier countries in our events are integrating sustainability as an essential element of their offer and are evolving rapidly on this subject, particularly due to the strong growth in demand from mature markets. This evolution is visible in our sustainable sourcing itinerary, where hundreds of certified companies stand out, in specific showcases, as do Pakistani and Taiwanese manufacturers with these pavilions dedicated to the sustainable offer".

Première Vision Paris - July 4 to 6, 2023

Première Vision Paris at Parc d'Expositions, Villepinte,
north Paris - February 2023 edition

Meanwhile taking place in north Paris at the Parc d' Expositions in Villepinte, from July 4 - 6, is Première Vision Paris which has been redesigned this season to meet the challenges of the sector’s transformation, driven by the transition to sustainability, regulatory changes, the impact of the pandemic on clothing consumption, the implications of the geopolitical crisis, the new needs of buyers within fashion brands, adaptation strategies for supply chains, and the new challenges facing manufacturers.

Organisers say the event has been completely revamped with a focus on 4 priority areas.

The first is Eco-responsibility - the new paradigm at the heart of the repositioning of the show and its offer, thanks to the new a better way programme.

Another area is a new layout and the creation of a PV Hub dedicated to innovation.

Thirdly, a (r)evolutionary approach to fashion information and the trend forums.

Fourthly, a new services policy for trade buyers.

Trade visitors will find inspiration, exchange ideas and build their new collections of ready-to-wear, accessories (fashion jewelry, leather goods) and footwear for the Autumn-Winter 24-25 season, previewing the collections and latest developments from 1,315 exhibitors from 47 participating countries.

The fair covers eight product categories  serving all creative fashion markets, from Yarns (yarns and fibers), to Fabrics, Leather,  Designs (textile designs and motifs), Accessories and components), Manufacturing (including fashion and leather manufacturing of apparel, small leather goods, leather shoes manufacturing), Smart Creation (technical and technological innovations, sustainable materials).

Gilles Lasbordes, Managing Director of Première Vision said, "This second edition of Première Vision Paris on the new July calendar is full of new features.  A new step has been taken, and we are particularly pleased to support the sector in its environmentally responsible transition with the new PV programme, ‘a better way’.

"This initiative, which we’ve been working on for over a year, aims to simplify buyers day-to-day work and help guide them, while decoding and promoting the real advances made by the textile industry and its investments in favor of more sustainable fashion.

Trade fair: Texworld Evolution Paris to celebrate 25th anniversary in a new venue this July

This summer, from July 3 to 5, 2023, the Texworld Evolution Paris group of trade shows will welcome 1,350 exhibitors from more than 20 countries to the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Center, in the heart of Paris, marking the shows'  25th anniversary.

Encompassing Apparel Sourcing, Avantex, Leatherworld, and Texworld Paris the three-day trade event on the Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 season will be a key focus of international buyers' sourcing calendar, offering the latest developments on offer from fashion brands that range from ready-to-wear to luxury designs.

Texworld Evolution Paris will for the first time staged in the new venue at Porte de Versailles in Paris because its usual site of Parc des Expositions in the Bourget has been given way to preparations of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Organisers at Messe Frankfurt France say being in the new venue means the Texworld Evolution Paris  trade shows can be held concurrently with other fashion events that will take place at the same location in the French capital.

Julien Schmoll, Marketing and Communication Director of Messe Frankfurt France explains that by joining up with the WSN Développement group, a broad sourcing platform will be created for trade buyers. "With the same badge, visitors will be able to attend freely from one event to another. WSN's Curve and Interfilière Paris shows for the lingerie, loungewear, swimwear and activewear community are slated to be held in Hall 5, from July 2 to 4, at the Parc des Expositions de la Porte de Versailles.

Texworld Evolution Paris  is also set to be the largest event since the end of the Covid-19 health crisis, with more than 1,300 manufacturers expected in Hall 1 of the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre, representing a 40% increase in participation compared to the February 2023 show.

The number of participating Chinese manufacturers are almost back to their pre-crisis level, with the number of exhibitors doubling at Apparel Sourcing Paris and increasing very strongly at Texworld Paris. Manufacturers from India, Turkey, Korea and Taiwan have confirmed their attendance. Due to very favourable results of the previous winter session, exhibitors are confident to be able to maintain close contact with the market by participating in Texworld Evolution Paris, explains the organisers.

Meanwhile, Messe Frankfurt Paris will be launching "Après vous", the trend book for the Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 season in July at Porte de Versailles, Paris, to celebrate "the world after", but also a certain French savoir-vivre, a source of creation for textiles and fashion, presented by Art Directors Louis Gérin and Gregory Lamaud.

Under four themes the new trend book, will be presenting the latest trend directions based on their analysis of emerging signals detected in the creative, artistic, economic and societal fields.

Paris February 2023 - photo by Lucia Carpio
As France is making preparations across Paris and indeed the country for the 2024 Summer Olympics, the international Texworld Evolution Paris has announced that its next summer edition, set for July 3 - 5 2023,  will take place at a new venue, in the Porte de Versailles Expo Centre, in the 15th arrondisement of Paris, expecting some 1,300 international textile and garment manufacturing exhibitors to take part.  The fair will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Texworld Evolution Paris February 2023 edition

Its recently concluded February 2023 edition, which was held (from Feb. 6 - 8) at their usual Parc des Expositions Paris in le Bourget, received close to 8,000 visitors from some 20 countries, a sign that organisers believed meant the resumption of business between the European fashion industries and major sourcing countries.  The Le Bourget location will not be available later this year as it has now been selected to host some of the Summer Olympics events, such as indoor volleyball and sport climbing, in 2024.

Texworld Evolution Paris February 2023 edition

Meanwhile Texworld organisers said they were pleased that after three years of disruptions due to the Covid crisis, the alleys of Texworld Paris and Apparel Sourcing Paris in the February 2023 fair were filled with trade visitors keen to view the new Spring-Summer 2024 collections from 750 exhibitors.  The level of attendance and trading activities were comparable to the pre-pandemic editions.

Texworld Evolution Paris February 2023 edition

Nearly 8,000 professional buyer registered and represented nearly a three-fold increase compared to attendance in the February 2022 edition.  While visitors were predominantly French, the fair was also visited by industry professionals from the UK, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Holland, followed by Germany and the US.

The February 2023 edition was highlighted by the return of Chinese exhibitors with 450 companies, weavers and garment manufacturers.  The fair also welcomed the return of exhibitors from Mongolia, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Korea, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.  Turkey also had a strong showing with 122 companies including 94 grouped under the national pavilion led by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).

Organisers said buyers, who have had in recent years reorient their sourcing strategy while facing inflation issues by sourcing more from Asia and the Mediterranean region, had come to get inspiration for trends and finalise their collections.

Texworld Evolution Paris February 2023 edition

Frédéric Bougeard, President of Messe Frankfurt France said, "The success of this (February 2023) edition shows our ability to adapt, and that our fairs are open international sourcing platforms. And they will remain so. The offer must stay organised according to the expectations of buyers, who come here to find quality industrial know-how to produce their collections in the best conditions and at the best price. Our objective is to always make this offer accessible and visible."

Come this summer, from 3 to 5 July, Apparel Sourcing Paris, Avantex Paris, and Texworld Paris as well as the Leatherworld offer, all under the umbrella of Texworld Evolution Paris, will occupy 45,000 m² in Hall 1 of the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre, compared to 25,000 m² for the February 2023 edition, with some 1,300 exhibitors expected, and it will see increased participation from China, India, Turkey, Korea, Vietnam, Ghana and Ethiopia.

Texworld Evolution Paris February 2023 edition

"The July edition will also coincide with the International Lingerie trade show & Interfilière organised by WSN (Who’Next), the professional platforms for the sourcing of materials and accessories for the lingerie, sportswear and swimwear markets, which will be held from 2 to 4 July. This strategic choice was made in response to strong demand from buyers, who want to be able to take advantage of an extended sourcing platform at the same time of year. This will be an opportunity for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary in a new arrangement, with more services, which will bring emulation to the market," said Frédéric Bougeard.

Texworld Evolution Paris - February 6 - 8 - welcomes international buyers

From 6 to 8 February 2023, Texworld Evolution Paris will once again take place at the Paris-Le-Bourget exhibition center, playing host to a total of 750 exhibitors from some 20 countries.

The international fair is billed as one of the main sourcing fairs for the textiles and fashion industry will feature brands ranging from ready-to-wear to luxury textiles.

Organisers at Messe Frankfurt say they expect another successful show as the level of visitor pre-registrations have suggested a real enthusiasm for this edition.

In the Texworld Paris section, there will be 460 exhibitors.  Chinese participants return with 220 compaies, taking the lead again among the exhibitors. They are followed by Turkish manufacturers, with 122 companies, Koreans (43 companies) and Indians (45 companies), along with Japanese and Indonesian manufacturers.

In the Apparel Sourcing Paris section, which focuses on finished products, there are 270 companies, including 210 Chinese manufacturers whose participation is supported by the CCPIT TEX (Council for the Promotion of International Trade), a loyal partner of the Texworld Evolution Paris fair.

The African continent, which confirms its aim to strengthen its role in global sourcing, will also be represented with companies from Ethiopia and, for the first time, Ghana, with the support of the ITC (International Trade Center) and the German cooperation association GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit).

Texworld Evolution Paris 2022.

Visitors from around the globe are treated to a programme of activities and pathways for orientation, with several round tables and conferences on offer. They will open the debates on current themes, such as the contributions of Web3 in the fashion and clothing industry, second-hand markets, or ways to make a company sustainable without compromising its competitiveness.

Other highlights will punctuate the three-day show with topical issues raised by sustainable fashion and recyclability, with, in particular, presentations by PhDs from the Bali Chair. A conference on the sourcing offer in Ghana will allow visitors to discover the industrial potential of this country.

One new addition this February is the launch of The Red Thread, a pathway which provide a link to all the exhibition's points of attraction. It will guide buyers from the entrance of the show to the Trends Forum and the Elite Forum – these two spaces created by the show's Art Directors showcase a selection of samples to imagine the spring-summer 2024 collections – through the Denim Village (20 exhibitors) and its Denim Trends Forum, the national pavilions and the Agora where the conferences will take place.

This February edition also includes a revisited sustainable sourcing itinerary. This will bring together a hundred companies that have implemented CSR initiatives in an operational manner.

Organisers say the number of Apparel Sourcing Paris exhibitors included in this itinerary has increased significantly compared to previous editions. This itinerary will be accompanied by the two other traditional itineraries, the small quantity itinerary (for small brands and capsule collections), and the handmade itinerary (for the finest handicraft).

Premiere Vision Paris and Texworld Paris group of fairs reported successful July 2022 edition, welcoming international buyers

Premiere Vision Paris's new summer edition in July welcomed 23,000 visitors

From July 4 to 8, Première Vision Paris, the premium trade event for all sectors of the textile and garment industry, presented its first early edition dedicated to the Fall-Winter 2023-24 collections: a physical show at the Parc des Expositions, Paris Nord Villepinte (July 5–7), complemented by a digital show accessible online during the same week (July 4 - 8).

This edition was historically held in September, and organisers are optimistic they will be able to build on its success with the new summer schedule, in tune with the evolving cycles of the fashion industry, as well as meeting the needs of manufacturers,

Organisers say this calendar change has won the market’s approval, registering a 32% growth in the creative offer (when compared to the September 2021 event), welcoming the return of international visitors.  The industry’s reinforced commitment to eco-responsibility issues addressed by Première Vision also confirmed the event’s strategic choices.

The physical edition, which attracted 23,377 visitors (+37% vs. the hybrid event of September 2021 and +10% vs. February 2022),  underlines the positive momentum of the event, with a solid turnout, especially on its first day, despite rail and air strikes, and despite a call for telecommuting issued by the SNCF (France’s national railway) to its users.

“We are pleased to have finally been able to respond to market demand with a new agenda that has been brought forward by two months. The creativity of our offer, the energy of our visitors, the return of distant markets, the challenge of eco-responsibility, and the success of the new services we offer are all strong and encouraging signs that we are able to sustain our activity despite the current context,” confirms Gilles Lasbordes, General Manager of Première Vision.

With international attendance at 69%, and a notable return of the United States and Korea, respectively in the Top 10 and Top 15 positions, international buyers turned out to discover the ultra-premium collections of 1,200 exhibitors. This growing creative offer (+32% vs. September 2021 and +10% vs. February 2022) also had a strong international dimension, with exhibitors coming mostly from Europe—with Italy in the lead, followed by France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, and Germany…—as well as from the Mediterranean basin—Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia…—and from Asia—Japan, Korea, India.

In a context where, in addition to the still latent health crisis, we now face an unstable international situation related to the war in Ukraine, which affects all markets in terms of business and industrial factors (rising raw  material prices, supply difficulties, logistics, etc.), this growth both in attendance and offer around a brand new calendar reflects the fashion industry’s solid confidence in the Première Vision Paris show, contends the organisers.

Texworld Paris group of fairs reported successful July 2022 edition, welcoming international buyers

Meanwhile, Texworld Paris group of fairs, held for the first time in July rather than September under a new rescheduling plan, recorded a 29% increase in trade visitors and marking the return of international professionals from the textile and finished product industries, registering some 3,700 buyers to the Parc des Expositions in Le Bourget in the French capital.

In additional to French buyers, other trade visitors had come from Spain, the UK and Italy, followed by Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands and the US.

The organisers at Messe Frankfurt France also announced that the next edition will take place from 6 to 8 February 2023 at the same venue, when the fairs will be expected to return to their original format, while the summer trade shows, to take place from 3 to 5 July 2023, will be held for the first time at Porte de Versailles, south Paris.

“This new edition, offered in the summer rather than in September, shows that manufacturers have been able to anticipate and prepare themselves to adapt to buyers' expectations," emphasised Frédéric Bougeard, President of Messe Frankfurt France.  He added that it also confirmed that a new step has been taken towards a return to the original formats of our shows, which we hope to be able to offer in February and then in July 2023.

The group of fairs held from 4 - 6 July 2022 included Apparel Sourcing, Avantex, Leatherworld as well as the textile fair Texworld Paris, presented more than 400 exhibitors.

They welcomed the return of exhibitors from China with 140 companies, India (60) and Korea (41), and from Turkey with 100 exhibitors.

Organisers said exhibitors were generally satisfied with the turnout at the fairs.  For one, weaver Kohinoor Mills from Pakistan, which offers high-quality menswear cotton fabrics at Texworld, revealed it had been a very active show for them company, having made several important contracts.

The Indian embroiderer Veekay International was able to meet buyers from nations not usually present at European trade fairs, such as Kosovo, Nigeria or Ghana, who placed orders for local markets.

At Apparel Sourcing, exhibitors also reported making positive impression with numerous contacts,  including first-time participant children's clothing manufacturer Raj Krupa Textiles, and womenswear company Smash Creations.

Of the 140 companies representing China, some 45 were  grouped together in the Source In China area, a platform run by agents from Foursource - the digital partner of Messe Frankfurt France - and Chinese experts.

Buyers welcomed the relevance and clarity of the merchandising efforts on offer in this area, which was once again set up this year by the Texworld Evolution Paris team. Some fifteen Chinese garment manufacturers were able to present complete white label collections designed for the European markets, presented on models during the China Fashion Walk shows.

Visitors were also able to experience the metaverse at the stand of Texpertise Network, the textile expertise network of the Messe Frankfurt Group. Equipped with virtual reality headsets, they were able to discover the possibilities of organizing virtual and hybrid events, meetings and product showcases that metaverse and augmented reality allow.
