I’ve been
a fan of Michael Portillo - the ex-politician-turned TV presenter since he presented a series of Great British Railway Journeys and Great Continental Railway Journeys (based
on George Bradshaw's 1913 Continental Railway Guide) for the BBC in the last few years. But
the currently run new series Great American Railroad Journeys in which he uses
a different guide book is compelling to watch, especially since it kicks off
with New York City’s Grand Central, one of my favourite railway stations in the
world due to its grand architecture and history.

Meanwhile spotted
