Adding geometric shapes to enhance a modern look

Designers often talk about colours, textures and mood for enhancing our indoor living.  There are also other dimensions of course, and one of them is to use geometric shapes which can effectively bring a feel of modernity to any interior looks.

Eames Fine Art reflects on their Highlights of 2020

Due to the different lockdowns and restrictions in the past 10 months or so, galleries and museums have not been able to stage events and open exhibitions for visitors.  Like many, digital online shows  have become the norm.

Eames Fine Art in Bermondsey, London is the same and has hosted a varied programme of exhibitions.  It even opened a new gallery, The Print Room, and reported hosting more shows in 2020 than in any other previous year.

While the gallery is thankful that many people continued to support them and the artists they represent, by buying work online or visiting the gallery when possible, they also realised that many of their favourite works from 2020 are still available,

With a background in graphic design I also love digital art and composite photography.  Before now, people would only get to see my collections of originals, and a couple of particular styles. While Jayne is the creative force in the partnership, Laurent is the business mind and the catalyst for Claude & Leighton. For a long time he has felt that all of Jayne's creative expression and skills deserved to be seen and enjoyed by others.

Bex Parkin's new silk scarves in tropical style

One can never have too many scarves, especially when packing for a summer get-away, so I welcome British artist Bex Parkin’s beautiful new collection of 100% silk scarves in her tropical illustrated style.

Bex is well known for her prints of exotic jungles and animals, often with botanical elements, using luxury fabrics with her bold, colourful illustrations.

The idea for the new collection came from wanting to provide an alternative to traditional scarves with fun patterns juxtaposed with quirky images, sometimes seemingly random patterns, other times in symmetrical arrangements.

As a freelance illustrator and designer, based in rural Staffordshire, Bex had previously worked in various artistic jobs in London but it was her work sourcing vintage and antique textiles for the fashion industry that really sparked off her love of print, pattern and colour.   Bex is also happy to take on commission work.

Each scarf is made in the UK and measures 63cm square and comes in a gift box with a giclee print of the design inside, all available on her website.
